From the North, take I-65 to the Bay Minette exit (#34). Stay on Route 59 all the way to the beach. Turn right on Beach Boulevard and go west about 3/4 of a mile. "Island Royale" will be on your left and is very hard to miss, owing to it's height. The address is 809 West Beach Boulevard, Unit P405, Gulf Shores, AL 36542
From the East or West, take I-10 to Route 59 and follow the directions above. If you're coming from the Pensacola Airport, there is a faster way, but you need a good map of Pensacola to navigate it. It involves finding Rt. 292 and following it to Rt. 182, but there are a couple of turns that are a little tricky. If I were trying it for the first time, I'd just take I-10 to Rt. 59 south. It's a little longer, but very easy.
From the South: Alternate between Backstroke and Freestyle. Just kidding. A raft made of old oil drums is good, too.
If you land at Gulf Shores' Jack Edwards Airport, you are already on Route 59 and only about 2 miles from the condo. Just go south on 59 and turn right at Beach Boulevard. When planning your trip, don't overlook the most elegant way to arrive at Gulf Shores: by private plane. Call the small airport nearest your home (you may not even know it's there, just look in the phone book) and ask for the price of a "Chartered Twin Engine" flight to Jack Edwards (JKA) in Gulf Shores. If there's only two of you, the price from, say Chicago, might be as low as $3,500 round trip. Sounds like a lot, I know, but the trip will be fun, MUCH faster with MUCH less hassle than the airlines and the nice people at Jack Edwards will have your rental car parked fifty yards from where you get off the plane and you'll only have to drive about 10 minutes to get to the condo. Alternately, you can spend this winter getting your pilot's license and fly yourself there in a rented Cessna, Piper, or Beechcraft. That's what we did about 15 years ago. See http://www.wyckoff.com/flight for more on this.
